Racers Return to Action at Western Michigan

STORY LINES
Murray State will play its second-straight FBS opponent as they travel to face Western Michigan on Sept. 20. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. and can be seen live on ESPN3.
Saturday's game against Western Michigan will mark the second-straight season, and the third time in the Chris Hatcher era the Racers will play a team from the MAC. Hatcher opened his tenure against Kent State, and the Racers traveled to Bowling Green last season. The streak will go to three-straight years against the MAC next season.
Wide receiver Janawski Davis continued his strong start to the season as he had five catches for 100 yards and two touchdowns against Louisville. His 100-yard performance marked the first time a Racer receiver recorded a 100-yard performance against an FBS opponent. Davis leads the OVC and is tied for the FCS lead with five receiving touchdowns.
Linebacker Travis Taylor led the Racer defense against Louisville with a career-best 12 tackles. He bested his previous high of nine set last season. He added a sack and two tackles-for-loss.

The Racers and Broncos will be meeting for the first time on the gridiron. The two schools have played twice in men's basketball (1-1) and in baseball (2-0).
vs. the MAC
The Racers are playing a team from the MAC for the second-straight season and the third time under coach Hatcher. MSU is 2-6 against the MAC, with wins coming over Eastern Michigan and Ohio. The Racers are 3-4-1 against Akron, but all eight meetings occurred while the Zips were a member of the OVC.
Early Bye
The Racers had a bye in the first three weeks of the season for the fifth time since the 2001 season. In two of those seasons, 2002 and 2004, the Racers had a pair of byes during the season. MSU had their bye week in Week 3 in 2001 and Week 2 in 2005.
Points vs. FBS
The Racers offensive found the endzone three times against Louisville. The 21 points marked the most scored against an FBS team since MSU put up 28 points against Middle Tennessee in 2000. It also marked most points against a Power 5 team since a 26-23 victory over Louisville in 1984.
Davis 100-yd Game
Junior Janawski Davis continued his strong start to the 2014 season as he caught five passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns against Louisville. Davis' 100-yard performance marked the first time a Racer receiver has recorded a 100-yard game against an FBS opponent.
Taylor Records 12 Stops

Humphries Strong 2nd Half
