Smith Places 15th At Cardinal Intercollegiate

Jordan Smith continued his splendid play Tuesday with a 15th place finish at the Cardinal Intercollegiate at the UL Golf Course in Simpsonville, Kentucky.
Smith was his usual steady self for the Racers with rounds of 74-73-73=904 to grab yet another good finish. The MSU senior had already posted 296-a pair of top-5 finishes this fall and was 47th in the nation in scoring average.
The Racers posted scores of 303-305=904to play 11th ahead of Dayton (908) and Western Carolina (915) and just behind High Point (902) and DePaul (894).
MSU's Matthew Zakutney finished 34th with rounds of 75-71-79=225, while T.J. Ferry had scores of 73-78-78=229. Preston French placed 54th with scores of 75-81-75=231 and Brock Simmons finished 82nd with rounds of 74-89-81=244.
Duncan McCormick competed as an individual for the Racers and finished 62nd with rounds of 74-77-81=232.
Host Louisville overtook Louisana-Monroe on the final day to win the event 870-871. Cincinnati was in third place at 877.ÂÂ
The UL course played to a par of 72 and 7,036 yards.
MSU's next event on the schedule is the Skyhawk Classic (Oct. 6-7) at Paris Landing State Park in Paris, Tenn.
