Racers Fall to Belmont

The Murray State women's basketball team fell 79-68 to Belmont Saturday at the CFSB Center.

The entirety of the game was a close matchup between the conference opponents.
Belmont (5-14, 2-4 OVC) led for the most of the first half until Bianca Babic pulled up and hit a three-pointer to tie the game for the Racers (5-13,0-5 OVC) 32-32 with 20 seconds left. Babic blocked the Bruins shot and had a fast break layup to put MSU up 34-32 going into the locker room.

Murray State continued their lead for most of the second half. The Bruins took a 49-48 lead at the 11:48 mark. The Bruins would never trail for the remainder of the game and won 79-68.

Keiona Kirby notched a double-double with 10 points along with a career-high 12 rebounds. Olivia Cunningham led the Racers with 16 points, followed by Netanya Jackson adding 14. Babic tied her career-highs with two assists and one block, while Jashae Lee tied her season-high with one block.

"We have a lot of good numbers," said head coach Rob Cross, "if we can get everyone to buy into the team we could make our way to the tournament and win."

MSU continues their home stand Thursday when they face Eastern Kentucky at 7 p.m.
