MSU Hosts OVC Cross Country At Miller Memorial

For the fifth time in Murray State history, the Racers will host the Ohio Valley Conference Men's and Women's Cross Country Championships Saturday.
The 2015 event takes place at Miller Memorial Golf Course in Murray, Ky., where admission and parking is free.
The women's 5k race is set to start at 9 a.m. The men's 8k race will follow at 10 a.m. Once the races have concluded, there will be an awards ceremony in the Miller Memorial Pavilion.
This will be the first time the Racers have hosted the event since 2003. MSU was also host in 1981, 1988 and 1994.
OVC Cross Country records show the Racers have won two OVC women's championships in 1980 and 1981. In 1982, Diane Stewart became MSU's first and still only OVC Cross Country Runner of the Year. Margaret Simmons was a three-time OVC Coach of the Year in consecutive years from 1979-81.
The MSU men have won seven titles in 1962, 1963, 1968, 1969, 1981, 1985 and 1986. MSU's winners of the OVC Cross Country top award are: William Boyd (1964), Gary Ribbons (1982), William Jordan (1983) and Jason McKinney (1995). Bill Cornell was MSU's first and only OVC Coach of the Year winner in 1981.
