Fans Asked To “Pink Out” Last Fall Softball Games

October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and the Murray State softball team is encouraging its fans to wear pink to each of its remaining fall dates. The Racers will host Heartland CC in fall action next Friday, Oct. 16, for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader, followed by a doubleheader with Dyersburg St. CC on Oct. 17 at 1 p.m.
While most people are aware of breast cancer, the National Breast Cancer Foundation says that many people forget to take the steps to have a plan to detect the disease in its early stages and to encourage others to do the same. The organization points out that while a significant amount of progress has been made, there is still a long way to go and help is always needed.
One of the best ways people can help is by visiting EarlyDetectionPlan.org and setting up an early detection plan. Users can also download the Early Detection Plan app in the App Store for Apple devices or on Google Play for Android devices. According to the American Cancer Society, when breast cancer is detected early, and is in the localized stage, the five-year relative survival rate is 100 percent.
