MSU's Historic Season Ends in OVC Title Match

The Murray State volleyball team's historic season came to an end Saturday night in the championship match of the OVC Tournament as the Racers fell in four sets to Belmont, 25-20, 18-25, 19-25 and 16-25. MSU's season comes to an end at 27-3. The 27 wins are a single season program record.
Kristen Besselsen led the Racers with 15 kills in the loss and also added 11 digs. Sam Bedard also recorded a double-double as she led MSU with 38 assists and 18 digs in the match. Bedard's illustrious career at Murray State ends with her in second place all-time in career assists with 3,601.
Scottie Ingram and Taylor Olden each had nine kills on the night to go along with eight digs. Alyssa Lelm added eight and had a team-high three total blocks in the loss.
Lelm finishes her career as the all-time career hitting percentage leader at MSU with .293 for her career. Her 317 total blocks rank third all-time. Olden finishes her career for the Racers with 1,168 kills, a mark that puts her fifth all-time.
With the loss, the Racers' program record 21-match home winning streak is snapped. Belmont receives the automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament with the win. Besselsen and Ingram were named to the all-tournament team.
