Rifle Holds At Second Despite New Ranking Format
12/16/2015 3:55:00 PM | Rifle
The Murray State rifle team remained in second in the latest Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association ranking, despite the switch to the NCAA qualification format.
Now that most schools have been able to compete at several different locations, the new format takes an average of a team's high scores at three different venues. This is the same format, when paired with each team's NCAA qualifier score, which the NCAA will use to determine the eight teams that will compete in February's national championship.
West Virginia remained at first in the latest rankings, while TCU and Kentucky moved into a tie for third. Alaska-Fairbanks, Air Force, Ohio State and Nebraska rounded out the eight teams currently in-line to participate in this year's championship in Akron, Ohio.
The full standings, including all NCAA teams, are available at any at time at http://ncaarifle.org/Home/SeasonStats.
