Kyra Gulledge grabbed a game-high 11 rebounds for the fourth time this season. A 28-point third quarter from the Salukis was the key turning point in the game.
The Racers and Purple Aces went to overtime in last season's meeting in Murray. The Racers had six players in double figures in the loss and were outscored 16-6 in the extra frame. Gulledge had a double-double with 10 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in the contest.
MSU has won two of its last three against the Purple Aces, including the last meeting at the Ford Center, a 62-50 victory in November of 2013. The Racers are 8-8 all-time at Evansville.
The Purple Aces will be playing their first home contest of the season Saturday when they host MSU. Evansville is led offensively by Sara Dickey, who leads UE in scoring (14.7 ppg), rebounding (4.8 rpg) and in assists (2.7 apg). Evansville is one of the better 3-point shooting teams in the Missouri Valley Conference, shooting 31.8 percent from long range. The Purple Aces have three players shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc and are led by Dickey's 13 made three's. The Purple Aces use a smaller lineup and have been outrebounded by nearly 13 boards per game. Evansville's lone win came at Cleveland State back on Nov. 18. UE is led by fifth-year head coach Oties Epps.
