Estes, Roe Named NRA All-Americans

Freshmen Ben Estes and Ivan Roe of the Murray State rifle team have both been named as All-Americans by the National Rifle Association, the organization announced last Saturday night.
Estes received first team honors in the smallbore event, while Roe was named honorable mention in air rifle. The duo are the first Racers since Nehemiah Gillman in 2011 to earn All-American honors during their freshmen campaigns.
Estes and Roe are now the 49th and 50th individual All-Americans in program history, representing 112 total honors. Estes' smallbore selection is the 82nd honor in that event, while Roe is the 51st air rifle honoree.
Estes, the OVC Smallbore Athlete of the Year, finished his freshman season with a 580.8 average in his selected event. He finished the past weekend's NCAA Championship with a career-high 587 in small bores, as well as a career high 177 aggregate score.
The OVC Freshman of the Year, Roe, also had a stellar first season with MSU, averaging 576.3 in air rifle, 588.8 in smallbore for 1165.1 aggregate average.
