Kelly Blasts Home Run in Loss to Skyhawks

The Skyhawks (13-29) jumped on the Racers (14-32) early with a four-run first inning. UT Martin opened the game with four consecutive singles and had five hits in the inning. UTM also added on a run in the second, two in the fifth, four in the seventh and three in the eighth.
Clay Kelly provided all of the Racer offense in the loss as he launched his second home run to left field in the eighth inning. The three-run shot was Kelly's second homer of the season.
MSU struggled offensively to move runners over that reached via walks and errors, collecting just 6 hits in the loss while UTM had 16 hits. The Racers went just 2-for-12 with runners in scoring position and 4-for-21 with runners on base. Meanwhile, the Skyhawks went 11-for-21 with RISP and 12-for-25 with men on the bases.
The Racers used six pitchers in the loss, with Cameron Wallace taking the loss in his first start of 2015. Tyler Anderson pitched effectively out of the bullpen in the loss for Murray State. Anderson pitched two innings and allowed one hit to go along with two strikeouts.
MSU returns to conference action this weekend as it travels to Nashville for a three-game series against Belmont. First pitch for Friday is set for 5 p.m.
