Koerner Named to Academic All-District Team

Junior Jarred Koerner was named as Academic All-District Cross Country/Track and Field selections by Capital One Friday, as selected by CoSIDA. He is the first men's cross country/track and field Academic All-District in program history, according to available records.

Koerner is a pre-med junior who was a 3.86 cumulative GPA. This season, he set a personal record in the 5K with a time of 17:21.48. He had his best finish of the season when he finished 10th in the 4-mile race at Austin Peay on September 19.

Koerner has racked up an impressive list of activities to go along with his athletic and academic success. He a member of SAAC on the campus, conference and national level. At Murray State he is a team representative for cross country, while on the conference level is he the co-secretary and community service spokesperson. He represents the conference at the national level and is on the DI NCAA Committee on Academics and the NCAA Sports Science Institute's Cardiac Task Force. He is part of a handful of honorary societies, while also being an undergraduate research assistant for Dr. Alexy Arkov's genetics' lab. He has been on the dean's list all three years, won the OVC Academic Medal of Honor and won the Diversity Achievement Award for three years.
