Hosting the 2015 Ohio Valley Conference Championships at Miller Memorial Golf Course highlights the 2015 Murray State Cross County schedule, announced by head coach Jenny Swieton on Tuesday.
"We are very excited to host the OVC championship this year," said Swieton. "Our seniors have been looking forward to this for a long time. We love our course at Miller Memorial Golf Course and cannot wait to show it off to the OVC."Â
The Racers will kick-off their 2015 campaign at 2015 Brooks Memphis Twilight Classic hosted by Christian Brothers on Sept. 5. Two weeks later, on Sept. 19, MSU travels to Vanderbilt for the 2015 Commodore Classic.
October 2 will mark Murray State's third trip to South Bend in four years for the Notre Dame Invitational. The road to the post-season begins on Oct. 17 for the Racers as they head to Louisville for Pre-Nationals.
Two weeks later MSU returns home to Miller Memorial Golf Course to host the OVC Championships for the first time since 2003. On Nov. 13, the Racers will wrap-up their regular season and attempt to qualify for the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championship at the Southeast Regional hosted by Virginia in Charlottesville.
"I am very happy with how our schedule shaped up this year," said Swieton. "We will face excellent competition and see a variety of different teams and courses. It makes it more fun for the team to go to different places and see different teams instead of racing the same people week after week. I also believe it is important to learn to race well on a variety of courses and in all sorts of racing environments."Â
