Volleyball Fall Camp in Full Swing

The Murray State volleyball squad is in its second week of fall camp, as the Racers began their 2015 season last Thursday. A total of 14 student-athletes took the court for the Racers, all returnees from 2014's OVC title team.
MSU is led by Head Coach David Schwepker who is in his 18th season at the helm. The 2014 OVC Coach of the Year returns the league's Player of the Year in outside hitter Scottie Ingram. Ingram became just the second Racer in program history to be named the OVC Player of the Year. Ingram led the conference with 370 kills and 3.66 kills per set last season.
The Racers also return All-OVC selections Sam Bedard and Taylor Olden. Bedard was named the OVC Tournament MVP a season ago, while leading the league with 11.09 assists per set. Her 1,164 assists are the ninth-most in a single season in program history. Olden was second on the team and fifth in the league last season with 345 kills and 3.38 kills per set.
Also returning from last year's squad are Kristen Besselsen and Alyssa Lelm who were named to the OVC All-Tournament Team along with Bedard. Olivia Chatman, Kaitlyn Embrey, Courtney Huff, Kamille Jones, Audrey Lewis, Ellie Lorenz, Emily Schmahl and Hannah Stultz also return from last season, along with Dacia Brown who redshirted in 2014.
The Racers open the 2015 season at the Western Carolina Invitational August 28 and 29, where they will face Fresno State at 3 p.m. the 28th and Western Carolina and Georgia State at 12:30 and 3:30 p.m., respectively the 29th.
