Volleyball Picked to Repeat in Preseason Poll

The defending OVC Champion Murray State volleyball team has been picked to repeat as champions in the preseason OVC volleyball poll, as voted on by the league's coaches and SIDs. The Racers received a total of 240 points and 20 of the 24 first-place votes.
Belmont was picked second behind MSU with 216 points, while Eastern Illinois (173), Eastern Kentucky (169) and Tennessee Tech (147) round out the top five. The Racers finished last season going 14-2 in league play to capture their first regular season title in program history, and then swept their way through three matches on the way to a conference tournament title in November to advance to their second NCAA Tournament in program history.
MSU also placed four student-athletes on the Preseason All-OVC team. 2014 OVC Player of the Year Scottie Ingram, OVC Tournament MVP Sam Bedard and Taylor Olden were automatically selected to the team after their all-conference honors last year. Kristen Besselsen joins the trio as a part of the preseason team.
The Racers begin their season August 28 and 29 at the Western Carolina Invitational in Cullowhee, N.C. MSU will begin its title defense Sept. 25 at SEMO when OVC play begins.
