Trojans Give Racers First Loss of the Season

Murray State soccer suffered its first loss of the season at the Coleman Sports and Recreation Center as the Little Rock Trojans defeated Murray State, 2-1.
The Racers (1-1) got off to a rocky start when they fell behind 1-0 in the fourth minute on a goal by UALR's Caitlin Eddy.
The Racers got on the board in the 39th minute when Marissa Burroughs took initiative on a Trojan turnover. With a swift move, Burroughs faked out the goalie, leaving her with an open net. This goal was Burroughs first of the season and the first of her career as a Racer.
Coming out of the 1-1 halftime, UALR (2-1) scored the game winner in the 53rd minute on a goal by Shannon Shields. The lead would go to hold as the Trojans beat the Racers, 2-1.
Little Rock doubled the Racers in shots, 18-7, and led in corner kicks, 4-2. Harriet Withers led the Racers with three shot attempts, while Racer goal keeper Shelby Haworth had two saves for the match.
Murray State hopes to bounce back Sunday as they take on Arkansas State at ASU Soccer Complex in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Game time set for 1 p.m. Live stats are available at GoRacers.com.
