Besselsen, Bedard Named OVC Players of the Week

Murray State's Kristen Besselsen and Sam Bedard have been named the ADIDAS OVC Offensive Player and Setter of the Week, respectively for their performances over the weekend for the Racers at the Catamount Volleyball Classic.
Besselsen, who was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, led the Racers with 34 kills and a .413 hitting percentage. Besselsen had a pair of matches where she recorded 13 kills in each and also had a .600 attack percentage in MSU's win over Western Carolina. Besselsen also added five service aces, four blocks and 24 digs in the three sweeps.
Bedard was named to the all-tournament team at the classic after she recorded a total of 105 assists over the weekend. Bedard averaged 11.67 assists per set and also set-up a Racer offense that hit .276 in their three victories. Bedard had 39 assists in MSU's season-opening win over Fresno State and in the win over host-Western Carolina - Bedard recorded her first double-double of the season with 32 assists and 15 digs.
MSU returns to action this weekend as it travels to Seattle, Wash., for matches against 10th-ranked Washington Sept. 4 and Buffalo Sept. 5.
