Racers Fall in Three at Morehead

The Murray State volleyball team lost in three straight sets Saturday afternoon on the road at Morehead State, losing 20-25, 22-25 and 20-25.
Kristen Besselsen led the way with 14 kills on the day while Scottie Ingram added 11 and Dacia Brown and Rachel Giustino chipped in with six each. Neither squad hit the ball well Saturday as the Racers (8-8, 3-1 OVC) were held to just an .096 team hitting percentage and Morehead (6-11, 2-2 OVC) hit .226 overall.
Morehead held a huge edge both defensively at the net and in the serving game as the Eagles out-blocked the Racers 13-2 and had twice as many service aces, 6-3. MSU also had four serving errors while Morehead had just three.
Hannah Stultz tallied 32 assists and seven digs in the loss while Ellie Lorenz was solid from her libero position, recording a match-high 16 digs.
The Racers continue their three-match road trip next weekend as they travel to face SIU Edwardsville on Friday and Eastern Illinois Saturday.
