Lorenz Named ADIDAS OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week

For the third time this season, Murray State libero Ellie Lorenz has received conference player of the week honors as she was named the ADIDAS OVC Co-Defensive Player of the Week for her performances in the Racers' two sweeps over the weekend.

Lorenz was once against spectacular in the back row defensively in the Racers' wins over Southeast Missouri and UT Martin as she averaged 6.83 digs per set for the weekend. Lorenz began the weekend with a match-high 19 digs in the win over the Redhawks and then followed that up with a 22-dig performance against the Skyhawks.

Lorenz, who shared the weekly honor with Morehead State's Merideth Jewell, leads the OVC in digs per set this season with 5.75. Lorenz also won the weekly award on Aug. 29 and Oct. 17 this season. She and the rest of the Racers begin a big week of OVC action Wednesday as they travel to Austin Peay for a pivotal 6 p.m., matchup with the Governors.
