11/22/2016 9:03:00 AM | Women's Basketball
Murray State's Ke'Shunan James has been named this week's ADIDAS OVC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for her performances last week for the Racers, announced Tuesday by the league office.
James, who became the 19th member of the 1,000-point club in program history earlier in the week against Southern Illinois, averaged 19.3 points, 11 rebounds and 5.3 assists per game in MSU's three games last week. James shot nearly 55 percent from the field (23-for-42) in the three games and also made three 3-pointers and went 9-of-11 at the free-throw line.
James led the Racers to a 2-1 record last week and began the stretch by nearly notching a triple double in the win over Alabama A&M as she scored 14 points, grabbed nine rebounds and dished-out eight assists in the win. James followed that up with 20 points and nine boards against SIU before closing the week with a 24-point, 15-rebound and six-assist effort against UNCG. The 15 rebounds set a new career-high for James and it also marked the first time this season that a Racer recorded a double-double. James was also a pest defensively throughout the week, recording eight steals.
It is the first player of the week honor this season for James and fifth overall for her career. James and the rest of the Racers next host Lipscomb Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the CFSB Center.
