Racers Rally To Fifth Place - Folke Also Fifth

Murray State's Moa Folke came home with a fifth-place finish for the Racers' women's golf squad at the South Alabama Spring Invitational, played at the Azalea City Golf Course in Mobile, Ala.

Folke earned a spot on the All-Tournament team after she carded rounds of 70-76-74=220. She shared fifth place with Kaeli Jones of South Alabama. Folke's first round 2-under par 70 was her career-low round at Murray State.

As a team, the Racers jumped past two teams in the final round to get a spot in fifth place in the field of nine schools. MSU finished with scores of 308-306-302=917, ahead of sixth place Southern Illinois (918) and seventh place Alabama State (923). Chattanooga won the event with a total of 883, ahead of host South Alabama at 890. Eastern Kentucky (893) placed third and UAB was fourth (901). Â

MSU's Abbi Stamper rallied to get a spot in 20th place with scores of 81-77-72=230, while Sophie Hillier finished 27th with scores of 79-76-78=233. Sydney Trimble had scores of 79-77-83=239 and placed 35th. Anna Moore placed 41st with rounds of 80-85-79=244.
Sydney Snodgrass of UAB was the medalist with a total score of 213.

The Azalea City course played to a par-72 at 5,929 yards.

Next up for the Racers is the North Florida Intercollegiate (March 7-8) at Jacksonville Golf & Country Club in Jacksonville, Fla.
