Racers Drop Match at Middle Tennessee

The Murray State women's tennis team fell in their last nonconference match of the season on Wednesday as they fell 7-0 to Middle Tennessee in Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Though MTSU swept Murray State (6-6, 1-1), it was a hard fought battle from the start. In the doubles matches, Erin Patton and Haily Morgan played their opponents at the No. 1 court. The pair fell in a tough fought battle 7-6 (5). Alina Schibol and Jeanne Masson also played a close match but at the No. 3 doubles court. The pair fell 7-6 (3) which gave the Blue Raiders the early 1-0 lead.
In the singles matches, the Middle Tennessee proved to be too much for the MSU. Seniors Megan Blue and Patton gave good efforts in the match. Blue played at the No. 1 singles. She lost her match 6-3, 6-3. Patton played at the No. 4 singles court. Her first match resulted in a tiebreaker point but she would eventually lose 7-6 (2). Patton fought hard in her second match as well but fell 7-5.
The Racers look to bounce back as they return home to host Eastern Illinois and SIU-Edwardsville in a weekend slate. Friday's match against EIU as well as Saturday's match against SIUE are set to begin at 10 a.m at Purcell Courts.
