Racers Rally To Defeat Eastern Illinois

The Murray State women's team won in dramatic fashion on Friday as they defeated Eastern Illinois 4-3 in a come from behind victory at Purcell Courts.
The Racers found themselves down early as EIU came ready to play. Partners Megan Blue and Amina Hadzic lost quickly to their opponent at the No. 2 doubles court 6-1. Partners Erin Patton and Haily Morgan played a close match at the No. 1 doubles. However, they were defeated 6-4, giving the Panthers the early 1-0 lead.
In the singles matches, the Racers came out ready. Hadzic faced her opponent at the No. 2 singles court and won in a commanding fashion 6-3, 6-2. Blue and Jeanne Masson faced adversity as they fell behind in their first sets. Blue rallied at the No. 1 singles court to defeat her opponent 1-6. 6-2, 6-2. Masson also rallied at the No. 5 singles to win 0-6, 6-3, 6-0.Â
At the No. 5 singles, Alina Schibol was the Racer who sealed the victory for Murray State. After winning her first set 6-4, Schibol fell behind in the second match 1-6. She rallied to defeat her opponent 6-4 in the third set to give the Racers their second OVC win of the season.
Murray State (7-6, 2-1) looks to keep the momentum going as they face SIU-Edwardsville on Saturday at Purcell Courts. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
