Roe Tied For Olympic Spot Headed To Final Day

Murray State rifle junior Ivan Roe is tied for the final of two spots on Team USA for the 2016 Summer Olympics after the second day of the 2016 USA Shooting Rifle/Pistol Olympic Air Trials at Camp Perry near Port Clinton, Ohio.
Roe shot a 622.8 to finish seventh in the preliminary round and qualify for the finals for the second consecutive day. In the finals, the Manhattan, Montana native finished fourth to earn five bonus points.
After the second day, Roe is tied with recent West Virginia graduate Garrett Spurgeon with a score of 1258.4. North Carolina State's Lucas Kozeniesky leads all shooters in the event with 1268.0. The duo of Roe and Spurgeon currently sit 8.0 points in front of their nearest competitor, Matthew Rawlings of the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, who has a score of 1250.4, which puts him in fourth place.
The shooters with the top two combined scores after Sunday's preliminaries and finals will advance to this year's Olympic game in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
