The Murray State Racers play the 2016 home opener against the Chattanooga Mocs Friday in Murray, Kentucky. The 4 p.m. start at Cutchin Field can also be seen on OVCDigitalNetwork.com.

The festive day at the Racers' home field will feature several items just for fans. The first 250 fans get a 2015 MSU Ohio Valley Conference Champion t-shirt and there will also be $1 hotdogs, hamburgers and slushies.

The Racers had half of their opening weekend rained out when their game at Louisiana Tech was cancelled on Aug. 19.

MSU traveled to Alabama on Sunday and hit the Crimson Tide with a pair of goals from Harriet Withers to lead 2-0 at intermission. However, the home team answered with four goals in the second half for a 4-2 win. Aaron Lankster had her first career Murray State assist on Withers' first goal.

The Mocs are 1-1 after playing two home games last weekend. They were defeated by Kennesaw State 1-0 and won an 8-0 match over Alabama A&M. Prior to their opening weekend, the Mocs played two OVC schools in exhibitions. Chattanooga played Tennessee Tech to a 1-1 draw and defeated Belmont 2-0.

When it comes to preseason predictions, the Racers were picked first in the OVC and the Mocs were picked eighth in the Southern Conference.

The Racers have meet Chattanooga only once in their history and that came in Murray State's inaugural season of 2000. The Racers won that game at Cutchin Field 2-1.

The game marks the start of the Racers 17^th season of games at Cutchin Field. This precious turf has been home to Racer Soccer since the program was hatched in 2000. MSU is 73-52-12 all-time at home and 16-3 in the Coach Jeremy Groves era. From 1924-72, Cutchin Field was the home of Murray State Football.

After the UTC game, the Racers hit the road next week for a Thursday 5:30 p.m. match (Sept. 1) at Vanderbilt. MSU comes back home (Sept. 4) for a contest with Arkansas State.
