Trio of Racers Named ADIDAS OVC Players of the Week

A trio of Racers took home ADIDAS OVC Volleyball Player of the Week Honors on Monday announced by the league office. Scottie Ingram was named Offensive Player of the Week, Ellie Lorenz was Defensive Player of the Week and Rachel Giustino earned Newcomer of the Week honors.
Ingram was named the Most Valuable Player of the Fort Wayne Invitational this past weekend after leading Murray State to a 3-0 record. Ingram led the Racers with 74 kills, averaging 5.29 per set and hitting .274 for the weekend. Ingram recorded at least 22 kills in each match and tallied a career-high 30 kills and hit .309 in MSU's comeback win over Ball State. Ingram also averaged 2.70 digs per set and recorded three double-doubles to begin the season.
Lorenz was named to the invite's all-tournament team after she paced the Racers in digs in all three matches. She opened the season with 22 in the win over Fort Wayne and followed that up with 30 against Ball State before closing the tournament with 19 versus Youngstown State. Lorenz averaged 5.07 digs per set over the weekend.
Giustino joined Ingram and Lorenz on the all-tournament team at the invite after she averaged 3.50 kills per set and hit a team-high .362. In the win over Fort Wayne, she tallied 15 kills and hit a match-high .452. Against Ball State, Giustino had 14 kills and hit .375 before closing this out with a 20-kill performance against Youngstown State. Giustino also led the team with 12 total blocks (eight solo and four assisted).
MSU returns to action this weekend as the Racers travel to Eugene, Ore., Sept. 2 and 3 for the Oregon Classic.
