Racer Tennis Opens Fall Season At APSU

The Murray State women's tennis squad got their fall season underway over the weekend when they competed at Austin Peay's Governor Tennis Center in Clarksville, Tennessee.

Overall, the Racers had student-athletes compete in 15 matches at the APSU Fall Invitational including two singles flights and one doubles competition.

The Racers won a pair of matches in the first flight when Claire Chang defeated UT Martin's Andrea Plantada 7-6(5), 6-1. Alina Schibol was awarded a 2-1 when after Rada Manatawat of Central Arkansas retired because of injury. Sara Bjork defeated Hailey Brunning of Lewis 6-4, 6-1 and Hannah Rikard defeated Megan Conlin of Lewis 7-5, 6-3.

In doubles play, the Racer duo of Chang/Schibol defeated Potter/Jumamjhambetova of UT Martin 7-6(4).

The Racers get their next action this weekend when they play at Central Arkansas (Sept. 23-24). The Multi-team exhibition will be held at the UCA Tennis Center in Conway, Arkansas.
