MSU Sweeps Redhawks

Murray State volleyball recorded its second sweep in as many days as the Racers defeated Southeast Missouri 25-19, 26-24 and 25-13 Saturday at Racer Arena to open their first OVC weekend with a perfect slate.
Scottie Ingram led the way with 14 kills on the day while Kristen Besselsen added 12 and hit .321. Ingram also led MSU (7-7, 2-0 OVC) for the second straight match in digs with 16, giving her 11 double-doubles now on the season. Besselsen also had a double-double in the sweep as she recorded 10 digs. In the back row, libero Ellie Lorenz had 14 digs and Alex Kaufmann chipped in with 13.
Megan Lindsay tallied five kills in her first career start and Kamille Jones added six. The Racers hit .178 as a team on the day and also had three total blocks. SEMO (1-15, 0-2 OVC) was held to just a .067 hitting percentage but did tally 10 total digs. MSU was very strong Saturday in its serving game as the Racers had seven aces and SEMO recorded just one.
Hannah Stultz, along with Kaufmann led the way with two service aces each in the sweep. Stultz also had 34 assists in the victory and had nine digs and four kills. Olivia Chatman led the way with two block assists.
The Racers return to action Tuesday as they look to start a perfect 3-0 in conference play. Rival Austin Peay comes to Racer Arena for a 7 p.m. match.
