This Week
MSU returns home for its third consecutive home match to begin conference play Tuesday as Austin Peay comes to town for the first of two meetings this season. The Racers look to extend their 17-match regular season home winning streak and their three-match streak against the Govs.
Last Weekend
The Racers opened their OVC title defense with a pair of sweeps over the weekend against UT Martin and Southeast Missouri. MSU hit a season-high .415 in the win over UTM and were led by Scottie Ingram's 17 kills and .538 hitting percentage. Against SEMO, Ingram led MSU again, this time with 14 kills while Kristen Besselsen added 12 and hit .321 in the sweep.
Setter of the Week
For her performance last weekend for the Racers, setter Hannah Stultz received her first career ADIDAS OVC Setter of the Week honor after she averaged 14.2 assists per set and engineered a Racer offense that hit .285 in the two matches. Stultz notched a career-high 51 assists in the sweep over the Skyhawks and followed that up with 34 assists, nine digs, four kills and a team-best two aces in the win over SEMO.
Scouting Austin Peay
APSU is led by Ashley Slay's 158 kills (2.93 per set) and .285 hitting percentage. Slay also leads the squad averaging 1.02 blocks per set. Kaitlyn Teeter is second on the team with 150 kills and 164.5 points. Kristen Stucker leads the league averaging 10.13 assists per set this year and also has a team-best 17 service aces. As a team, the Governors lead the OVC with a .218 team hitting percentage and have a total of 105 team blocks. The Govs have won six straight matches entering Tuesday's contest.
Border Battle
The athletics departments of Murray State and Austin Peay recently announced they'll begin a special competition that will enhance what is already one of the best rivalries not only in the Ohio Valley Conference, but also in NCAA Division I.
Heritage Bank is the proud sponsor of the Battle of the Border which will see the Racers and Governors compete throughout the school year in every sport. A point system will determine who has bragging rights at the end of the school year and the two schools will be volunteering to help make their communities better. A total of 67 points are available in the series, representing the 67 miles that separate the two campuses.
Six points total will be awarded for volleyball with three points going to the winner of each match played.
Promotional Giveaway
The first 150 Winner's Circle Gold and VIP level members in attendance at Tuesday's match will receive a special Murray State pint glass.
