Racers Stumble at Jacksonville State

Murray State volleyball came up short Friday night at Jacksonville State as the Racers fell in four sets to the Gamecocks at Mathews Coliseum, 18-25, 25-21, 15-25 and 20-25.
The Racers (12-7, 4-3 OVC) struggled offensively on the night, hitting just .076, while JSU (18-8, 4-3) hit .244. The Gamecocks also out-blocked the Racers 16.5-4 in the match. MSU did have a slight 5-3 edge in service aces.
Rachel Giustino led MSU with 13 kills in the loss while Olivia Chatman added 12. Courtney Radle, in the first action of her career at outside hitter, tallied eight kills while Liza Gober chipped in with seven and hit a team-high .300.
Ashley McBee recorded her first career double-double in the match as she notched a match-high 40 assists and had a career-best 12 digs. Alex Kaufmann led the way with 19 digs on the night while Becca Fernandez had 16.
MSU returns to road action Saturday as it will face Tennessee Tech in a 4 p.m., contest in Cookeville.
