This Weekend
The Racers hit the road for a pair of contests this weekend beginning Friday night at Jacksonville State and concluding Saturday against Tennessee Tech. MSU is 3-3 on the road this season, including 1-1 in conference play and is looking for its second consecutive road win at JSU and third straight at TTU.
Last Weekend
Last Saturday, the Racers defeated Morehead State in four sets at Racer Arena. Olivia Chatman led a balanced MSU attack with a career-high 13 kills. Rachel Holthaus had 12 kills and hit a team-best .455 in the win while Rachel Giustino chipped in with 11 kills. Liza Gober, Katirah Johnson and Megan Lindsay all added five kills each. Meanwhile, Callie Anderton led the Racers with a career-high 47 assists in the victory.
League Leader
Giustino remains the leader in the OVC in both kills per set (4.45) and points per set (5.07) while Alex Kaufmann is second in the league in conference-only play averaging 4.83 digs per set. As a team, the Racers lead the league in service aces per set with 1.82 per.
Scouting Jacksonville State
Jacksonville State is led by a pair of 2016 Second Team All-OVC honorees in Mackenzie Rombach and Allyson Zuhlke. Zulke leads the Gamecocks with 310 (3.44 per set) kills this season while Rombach is second on the squad with 218 kills and is hitting a team-best .311. Hannah Kirk leads JSU with 350 digs from her libero spot and Jennifer Hart leads the way with an 8.54 assists per set average (777) at setter. As a team, JSU is second in the OVC with a .221 hitting percentage and is averaging 2.02 blocks per set.
Scouting Tennessee Tech
Shealene Little leads the Golden Eagles with 198 kills in 2017 and a .198 hitting percentage. Rachel Thomas is the lone other TTU student-athlete with over 100 kills this year, registering 105 kills this year. Susie Jeziorowski has 578 assists on the season and her 9.03 assists per set ranks second in the OVC. As a team, TTU is hitting just .147 and has 71 service aces and 98 total blocks.
