Women's Basketball Officially Opens Practice

The 2017-18 Murray State women's basketball season officially kicked off Tuesday afternoon at the CFSB Center as first-year head coach Rechelle Turner and the Racers held their first official team practice of the fall.
MSU returns three starters from last season's squad, including two-time First Team All-OVC honoree Ke'Shunan James. James became the 19th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points last season against Southern Illinois.
James led the league in scoring last season, averaging 21.6 points per game during conference play and was 17th nationally in scoring overall at 20.5 points per contest, while her 594 points were the fifth-highest single-season mark in program history.
Fans have their first opportunity to see this season's squad, along with the men's team Oct. 19 at Racer Mania. MSU hosts Georgetown (Ky.) Nov. 2 at 5 p.m., in an exhibition contest while the regular season tips off Nov. 12 at Evansville. The 2017-18 home opener is Nov. 15 when Butler comes to town at 11 a.m.
