Racers Remain Undefeated in OVC With 1-1 Tie at EKU

The Murray State Racers remain perfect in the Ohio Valley Conference after a 1-1 double overtime draw with Eastern Kentucky at the EKU Soccer Field in Richmond, Ky.
The Racers move to 9-1-2 overall and 4-0-2 in the OVC. EKU moves to 7-3-4 overall and 4-0-3 in the OVC.
With the tie, Murray State keeps their conference unbeaten streak intact, moving to 27 consecutive OVC games without a loss.
"It was a good game, both teams had chances to win. Going up a goal, I was a little disappointed not to go on and win. We are still a point behind EKU with a game in hand," said head coach Jeremy Groves.
Miyah Watford provided the only goal for the Racers at the 51st minute. Getting a bouncing ball that deflected off the gloves of the EKU keeper, Watford secured her third goal of the season.
Alex Steigerwald, making four saves, is now 9-1-2 overall on the year.
Austin Peay comes to Cutchin Field on Thursday, October 12 at 3 p.m. for the Heritage Bank Battle of the Border, an all-sport rivalry contest between the two universities. Last season, the Racers took down Austin Peay to win the inaugural trophy in convincing fashion, 46.5-17.5. Points are awarded per head-to-head win or best conference finish, depending on the sport, in addition to a week of giving and a blood drive. The school with the most points at the end of the season gets to keep the trophy for the next year.
