Saturday
Murray State closes the 2017 regular season at Eastern Kentucky Saturday. The winner of this weekend's match will clinch the No. 3 seed in next week's OVC Tournament. The Racers still have an outside shot at the second seed, but would need a win and two losses this weekend by SIU Edwardsville. MSU has won its last six contests against the Colonels.
Wednesday
MSU began the final week of the regular season with a four-set win at OVC champion Austin Peay on Wednesday. After a slow start to the evening, the Racers rattled off three consecutive set wins to defeat the Governors. Rachel Giustino had a great all-around match as she notched a match-high 18 kills and added a career-best 29 digs on the night. Rachel Holthaus had 15 kills and hit .452 while Dacia Brown added 14 kills and two blocks. Becca Fernandez had 25 digs from her libero spot while Alex Kaufmann chipped in with 16.
20-20 Vision
With a win on Saturday, the Racers would have a 20-win season for the fourth consecutive season, a mark which would extend its program record for most 20-win seasons in a row. Right now, MSU's streak of three straight seasons of 20 wins or more dating back to 2014 is already a program-best streak.
Scouting Eastern Kentucky
The Colonels are led offensively by Celina Sanks' 360 kills and 32 aces in 2017 while 2016 First Team All-OVC honoree Nikki Drost is second on the team with 260 kills while Cassie Knutson has 241 kills and 26 aces. During OVC play, Knutson leads the team with 301 assists. Chloe Rojas leads the back row with 499 digs this year. As a team, EKU is hitting .166 and is averaging 1.82 blocks per set.
