Wednesday
Murray State begins its final regular season week of 2017 with a road trip down to Austin Peay for a 7 p.m., contest. The Governors snapped the Racers' 27-match regular season home winning streak earlier this season in October. It was the only match this season MSU lost at home.
Last Weekend
MSU closed its 2017 home schedule with a pair of OVC wins to improve its record to 8-1 at Racer Arena on the season. The Racers rallied from a two-set deficit on Friday to defeat Southeast Missouri in five and then closed with a sweep of UT Martin on Senior Day. Rachel Giustino led MSU with 26 kills in the two wins while Rachel Holthaus had 22 and hit .308 and had a pair of double-doubles as she recorded 33 digs over the weekend. As a team, MSU hit .214 in the two matches.
Scouting Austin Peay
The Governors have already clinched at least a share of the OVC title and will host the upcoming OVC Tournament next week. APSU has the top offense in the league as it leads the conference with a .231 team hitting percentage. Kristen Stucker leads the OVC with an 11.36 assists per set average. Ashley Slay leads the Govs with 415 kills this year and is hitting .307. APSU has won nine consecutive matches entering Wednesday.
Battle of the Border
Wednesday will be the second Heritage Bank Battle of the Border match between the Racers and the Govs. Points are awarded per head-to-head win or best conference finish, depending on the sport, in addition to a week of giving and a blood drive in the all-sport rivalry contest between the two universities. The school with the most points at the end of the season gets to keep the trophy for the next year.
