Racers Cross Country Honored For Academics By USTFCCCA

The Murray State cross country teams were honored as part of the 2016 NCAA Division I Scholar Teams by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
Additionally, the Racer men's Grade point Average (GPA) of 3.70 was second in the nation, behind only Bowling Green State's 3.71.
"I am so proud of how hard both of our teams work in the classroom and on the cross country course," said Racers' coach Jenny Swieton. "They always represent Murray State in a positive way in every aspect of life. I couldn't be more proud to be their coach."
Only teams that have a 3.0 GPA or higher and competed at the regional level of the NCAA Championship can make the national list.
The Racers are part of a group of seven teams from the Ohio Valley Conference to be honored. All six were honored for both women's and men's categories.
Overall, there were 431 teams that earned distinction from the USTFCCCA for their efforts both athletically and academically. Of those 431 teams, 242 were women's and 189 were men's.
