Last Time Out
Murray State pushed its current win streak to nine and reached 20 wins faster than any team in school history by winning all five games of the 2017 Racer Classic last weekend. MSU beat Northern Illinois and Saint Louis twice each and also picked up a non-conference win over OVC foe Austin Peay.
The Racers posted a .339 team average over the five-game span which was powered by 12 extra base hits for a .465 slugging percentage. Jessica Twaddle led all players in the tournament with a .692 average, scoring four runs on nine hits with five doubles, three RBIs and a stolen base. The senior hit safely in all five games on the week and had multiple hits in four of the five games.
In the circle, Mason Robinson went 3-0 on the week and allowed just two earned runs over 20.0 innings for a 0.70 ERA. She limited her opponents to a .176 average on the week, while striking out 16 and walking just one.
The Western Illinois Series
The Racers and Leathernecks met or the first time two weeks ago in Carbondale, where Murray State picked up the 4-3 win. Cayla Levins gave MSU the win in the game when she blasted a two-run home run in the fifth to put the Racers on top for good.
