MSU Falls to EKU in Series Finale

Jack Hranec provided most of the offense for MSU (24-24, 12-12 OVC) in the loss as he had an RBI single in the second and a two-run homer in the sixth. He and Brandon Gutzler both led MSU with 2-for-4 days at the plate, as Gutzler provided the other RBI for the Racers on a double in the fifth.
Hranec also got the start on the mound and took the loss as allowed five runs on four hits in the first inning. The Racers used five relievers in the loss, led by Luke Brown who pitched five innings and struck-out four batters and allowed two runs.
After Hranec's single in the second made it 7-1, the Colonels (23-25, 9-15 OVC) responded with a pair of runs in the fourth to push the score to 9-1. The Racers were able to cut the deficit down to 9-4 after the home run in the sixth, but that would be as close as they could get the rest of the way.
MSU is off now during the week due to finals and will return to action this weekend with its final road series of the season at Morehead State beginning Friday at 4 p.m., Murray time.
