Murray State held their tryouts for the 2017-2018 cheer team on Sunday (April 30). The Racers added five new cheerleaders as well have eleven returners.
The MSU cheer prospects were evaluated on three areas; fundamental cheer skills, fitness level, and an interview.
The fundamental cheer skills required include co-ed and all-girl stunts, tumbling skills, jumps, band dances, the Murray State fight song, and overall enthusiasm.
The fitness test included a one-mile run, body-weight planks, push-ups, pull ups, and wall sits. The interview was held in front of a panel of judges where the prospects' character, leadership, teamwork, work ethic, and other various items were questioned.
The two-day clinic and tryout process went on from Saturday (April 29) to Sunday (April 30).
The Racers welcomed five newcomers; Sydney Roberts, Jathan Thompson, Kennedy Raley, Riley Powers, and Kelsey Hatley.
