Women's Basketball Releases 2017-18 Schedule

The Murray State women's basketball team has announced its upcoming 2017-18 schedule. The Racers' 29-game schedule will feature 14 games at the CFSB Center.

MSU plays a very competitive non-conference slate this season, including an ACC road contest at national power Louisville the day after Thanksgiving (Nov. 24). While the Racers' final non-conference game of the season will be played at Alabama Dec. 20. MSU will also have four non-conference contests at the CFSB Center as Butler comes to town Nov. 15, Lipscomb Nov. 18, East Tennessee State plays at "The Bank" Nov. 29 while Bethel comes calling December 14.

"We are very excited to announce the schedule that will serve as the beginning of a new era for Murray State women's basketball," said Head Coach Rechelle Turner.

"We will face a demanding non-conference schedule that should prepare our team for the rigors of league play in the OVC. Our Racers will face teams from the Big East, the ACC and the SEC. A November game at Louisville will allow our kids to test themselves against one of the nation's best programs, and a December trip to Alabama will serve as our final preparation for conference play."

"I am very excited about our November home games against Butler, Northern Kentucky and East Tennessee State, as I look forward to our team showing Racer fans that we will be worthy of their support all season long inside the CFSB Center," continued Turner.

The Racers' conference opener will be played December 28 against Eastern Illinois and will be the first of four consecutive home games to begin OVC play in 2017-18.

"We will certainly be looking to take advantage of being at home for our first four games in OVC play. A strong start on that four-game home stand would be very important as we pursue a conference championship," said Turner.

New to this season will be an 18-game OVC schedule. MSU will play a home-and-home this season against Austin Peay, Eastern Illinois, Jacksonville State, SIU Edwardsville, Southeast Missouri, Tennessee Tech and UT Martin. While single game contests will be at Tennessee State (Jan. 18) and Belmont (Jan. 20) and at home for Morehead (Jan 25) and Eastern Kentucky (Jan. 27).

The OVC Tournament will begin February 28 and be held in Evansville, Ind., at the Ford Center this season.
