Kaufmann Named OVC Defensive Player of the Week

Murray State libero Alex Kaufmann was named the ADIDAS OVC Defensive Player of the Week Monday for her efforts over the weekend in the Racers' two victories over Eastern Illinois and SIU Edwardsville to open conference play.
The honor was the first of Kaufmann's career after she led the league over the weekend with an average of 5.44 digs per set. In the win over SIUE, Kaufmann tallied a career-best 30 digs on the night, while also notching a match-high 19 digs in the win over EIU to begin the weekend. Kaufmann also led the team with five service aces over the weekend, including four against the Cougars.
Kaufmann and the rest of the Racers play their first conference road matches of the season this weekend as they play at UT Martin Friday at 7 p.m., and 1 p.m., Saturday against Southeast Missouri.
