Murray State's Rachel Giustino took home her first career OVC Offensive Player of the Week honor Monday after her outstanding performance at the Chattanooga Classic. Giustino helped lead MSU to three wins over the weekend and the tournament title.
Giustino, who was named the Most Outstanding Player at the classic, averaged an incredible 6.30 kills per set and hit .321 over the weekend while also averaging 3.40 digs per set and eight service aces. Giustino recorded a career-high 28 kills and added a season-best 19 digs in the win over Chattanooga to close the tournament. She began the classic with 19 kills, a career-best four aces and a .500 hitting percentage in the sweep over UL-Monroe and had a 16-kill, nine-dig outing against SHSU.
Giustino and the rest of the Racers put their five-match winning streak on the line Tuesday as they host Southern Illinois at 7 p.m., in the 2017 home opener at Racer Arena.
