Racers To Start Season 3rd Nationally

The Murray State rife team will begin the 2017-18 season where it ended the 2016-17 season in the Collegiate Rifle Coaches Association preseason poll at number three, the organization announced late Wednesday evening.
Five-time defending national champion West Virginia was voted number one in the poll, while TCU came in second. Kentucky came in fourth in the rankings, while Ohio State rounded out the top five. Other OVC members in the poll included Jacksonville State at 15, Morehead State at 18 and UT Martin at 19.
Murray State will host each of the two teams above them in the rankings this season with TCU coming to the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range on October 22, followed by West Virginia on November 12. The Racers will officially begin their 2017-18 season September 23 at home against Georgia Southern.
The Racers return all nine members of their 2016-17 OVC championship squad this season, including one additional member. Of the nine returners, seven were named as an All-American one year ago.
