Racers Picked to Finish Fourth In OVC Tennis

The Ohio Valley Conference announced Thursday the preseason predicted finishes for all ten teams along with the top-10 player rankings for the upcoming season.
The Murray State women's tennis team was voted to finish fourth this year by the coaches, and Claire Chang was ranked in the top-10 in OVC women's tennis.
"The OVC has become one of the toughest conferences to win in regard of how close the gap is among the teams. This year there are several teams with high chances of winning the title and being picked fourth by the coaches' means they believe we will be close to the top in the end of the season. It's another year where if you make it to the tournament, you have good chances of winning it all," said head coach Jorge Caetano

Chang is currently 7-3 overall this season, and was also named the flight one champion of the Spring Kick-Off Tournament in Troy, Ala., where she went undefeated against Troy, Louisiana Tech and Central Arkansas.
"Claire has a lot of talent, and I am glad the other coaches see her as a top-10 player in our conference. She can compete with anyone, and I am very excited to see how she is going to do this year after having some good experience in OVC ," said Caetano.

The Racers host Saint Louis on Thursday, February 8 at 2 p.m. in Hardin, Ky., for their first home match of the 2018 season.
