Racers Take Over Top Spot In Latest CRCA Rankings

After a huge score against Jacksonville State, the Murray State rifle team moved to the top of the latest CRCA Rankings, the organization announced Monday.
"I am incredibly proud of what this team has done so far this season," said head coach Alan Lollar. "They have consistently put in the work to better and it is showing. While the old cliche 'it's not how you start, but how you finish' maybe true, this is still an accomplishment that our team should be deservedly proud of."
Perennial power West Virginia followed the Racers in second, while TCU was third and Air Force and Kentucky tied for fourth. Other OVC schools in the rankings were JSU at 14th, Morehead State at 16th and UT Martin in 20th.
Senior Barbara Schläpfer paced the Racers in the match with a school-record tying 1188 in aggregate, as well as a 598 in air rifle, which also tied a school record. Murray State's total team score in the match, a 4716, is currently the second-highest score in the NCAA this season.
Murray State will look to defend its ranking this weekend when it travels to Ohio State for two days of action.
