Racers Can’t Keep Early Lead, Fall To Radford

Just The Facts
The Murray State softball team led Radford, 2-0 after 4.5 innings Sunday in the final game of the Eagle Round Robin in Statesboro, Georgia. However, the Highlanders mounted a comeback in their final three innings and rallied to top the Racers, 4-2. With the loss, the Racers finish opening weekend with a record of 1-3.
How It Happened
Murray State scored in the second and fourth innings, on a RBI groundout by Dani Walls and sacrifice fly from Brenna Finck. However, Radforde roared back in the bottom half of the game with three runs in the fifth to take the lead and a solo home run for insurance in sixth. Murray State was not able to respond and fell for the third straight game, 4-2.
In The Circle
Olivia Suski both started and finished the game by allowing three runs on the hits with three strikeouts and two walks over 5.2 inning. Haven Campbell and Grace Vaughn filled in the gaps, combining for 0.1 innings.
A Tale Of Two Games
In the first four innings Sunday, the Racers had two runs on five hits, while allowing no runs on one hit. However, in the final three innings, Murray State scored no runs on hits, while allowing four runs on five hits.

The Racers will travel to Starkville, Mississippi next weekend for Mississippi State's February Freezer. While in cowbell country, Murray State will take on Drake, South Alabama and the host Bulldogs.
