The Murray State women's tennis team came away with a clean sweep Sunday, as they defeated both Southern Indiana and Cumberland University 7-0 to move to 3-3 overall.The Murray State women's tennis team came away with a clean sweep Sunday, as they defeated both Southern Indiana and Cumberland University 7-0 to move to 3-3 overall.
""It was a great day for us overall from top to bottom, both on singles and doubles. It was really good to see the confidence that the girls showed from the very first point.  It was a team effort today and everyone did a fantastic job, so I am very proud of every single one of them for stepping up and playing some great tennis," said head coach Jorge Caetano after the wins.
Claire Chang
Chang was unable to finish both her doubles matches with Stasya Sharapova, as they were both left unfinished at 4-3.
In singles, she went 2-0 on the day, with a 6-0 win in both sets against USI and a hard fought three set battle against Cumberland; where she lost the first set 6-7 and then came back to win 6-1 and 10-3.
Stasya Sharapova
Playing with Chang for both doubles matches, Sharapova was not able to record a win. In singles play however, she made her mark, winning 6-1 in all sets played against USI and Cumberland.
Amina Hadzic
Competing in doubles with Anja Loncarevic, Hadzic went 2-0 in doubles play, winning 6-0 against Southern Indiana and 6-1 against Cumberland. In singles she beat Southern Indiana 6-0 and 6-1 while defeating Cumberland in similar fashion.
Sara Loncarevic
Loncarevic came away with convincing wins against both USI and Cumberland, winning 6-1 and 6-2 against USI before only winning 8-1 against Cumberland.
Jeanne Masson
Masson was yet another Racer to see success in both doubles and singles, with a 6-3 win against USI and a 6-0 win over Cumberland with Sara Bjork. In singles play, she won 6-2 in both sets against USI and 6-1 against Cumberland.
Hannah Rikard
Rikard started off winning in a contest match against USI, where she won the first set 6-4 and held to win the second 7-6.Â
Sara Bjork
Playing doubles with Masson, Bjork won 6-3 against USI and 6-0 against Cumberland. In singles she came away wih an 8-1 victory over Cumberland.
Anja Loncarevic
Playing doubles with Hadzic, Loncarevic went 2-0, winning 6-0 against USI and 6-1 against Cumberland.
Murray State visits Nashville, Tenn., to take on the Bisons of Lipscomb University on Saturday, March 3 at 1:00 pm.
