Racers Fall Twice On Saturday

The Murray State softball team dropped a pair of games Saturday at Arrocha Ballpark in Lawrence, Kansas as part of the 2018 Rock Chalk Challenge. The Racers fell in game one, 6-0, to Western Illinois, and fell 4-1 to UMKC as a result of a walk-off home run.
In the opener, Sierra Gilmore got MSU's lone hit in the game with two outs in the bottom of the seventh to stave off a perfect game by WIU pitcher Emily Ira. In game two, the Racers tied up the game in the sixth on a RBI single from Macey Hale, only to have Lia Lombardini end the game in the bottom of the seventh with a walk-off two-run homerun. Gilmore led MSU in game two as well by going 2-for-3.
The Racers return to action Sunday to close out the Rock Chalk Challenge against Saint Louis at 9 a.m.
