Racer Comeback Halted By SLU Walk-Off

For the second time in as many games, the Murray State softball team suffered a gut-wrenching loss by virtue of a walk-off home run, this time handing the Racers a 7-3 loss to Saint Louis at Arrocha Ballpark in Lawrence, Kan.
Murray State fell in an early 2-0 hole, but took the lead in the fifth on a RBI single from Sierra Gilmore and a two-RBI double from Lillie Goetz. The Billikins, however, would tie the game in the bottom of the fifth on a solo home run from Sadie Wise.
In the seventh, the Racers could not score in the top of the inning and needed to hold Saint Louis in the bottom to force extra innings. However, with the bases loaded, Allie Macfarlane ended the game with a walk-off grand slam to give her team a 7-3 win. Jensen Striegel led MSU at the plate on the day by going 2-for-2 with two walk and run.
Murray State returns to action Tuesday against Saint Louis, this time in St. Louis at 4 p.m.
