Murray State head women's basketball coach Rechelle Turner has announced the signings of two student-athletes who will be joining the Racers in the fall of 2018. Forwards Macie Gibson, from Booneville and Owsley County High School and Cekeya Mack, from Albany, Ga., and Albany Tech CC signed their National Letters of Intent Wednesday.
Macie Gibson, 6-1, F, Booneville, Ky., Owsley County HS
Gibson is a highly-decorated student-athlete who received all-state, all-region and all-district honors multiple times throughout her illustrious career at OCHS. Gibson was a six-time all-district team member and was the 2017 regional and district MVP. This past season, Gibson was a finalist for Miss Basketball in Kentucky after she led the state in both scoring (31.2 points per game) and rebounding (17.2 rebounds per game). Gibson also became just the 25th student-athlete in Kentucky State High School history to surpass 3,000 career points as she accomplished the feat in February. Gibson concluded her career with 3,169 career points and 1700 career rebounds.
"Macie is a scorer," said Coach Turner.
"She can score on you in a variety of ways. Her ability to play guard or post makes her a valuable offensive tool. She is also an outstanding rebounder that has a nose for the basketball. Macie will bring a toughness to our team and has the potential to make an immediate impact.

Cekeya Mack, 6-0, F/C, Albany, Ga., Albany Tech
Mack was a First Team All-Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association honoree this past season at Albany Tech after averaging 18.7 points and 12 rebounds per game on 50 percent shooting from the floor in 2017-18. She ranked sixth in the nation with those 12 boards per contest while her scoring average was 24th in the NJCAA ranks. Mack also received Honorable Mention All-American honors for her efforts this season.
"Mack" brings size and strength that we need to provide an inside presence both offensively and defensively," said Turner.
"She is a versatile post player that can be a true center or can step out and make the 15-foot shot. She has the potential to be a special player for us."
"I believe that both of these student-athletes are outstanding additions to our 2018 recruiting class," continued Turner.
The duo joins five student-athletes in this class, Alexis Burpo, Sadie Hill, Lex Mayes, Macey Turley and DeAsia Outlaw, who all signed with the Racers back in November.
