Morant Invited To Chris Paul Camp
6/20/2018 9:16:00 AM | Men's Basketball

It was an amazing freshman season in 2017-18 that propelled Morant to get the chance to attend the camp (Aug. 1-4) in Winston-Salem, N.C.
Out of Dalzell, S.C., Morant made an immediate impact on the Racers when he started every game of a 26-6 season that included Murray State winning both the Ohio Valley Conference regular season and tournament championship, which pushed them to the NCAA Tournament for the 16th time.
At the postseason team awards banquet, Morant was the first recipient of the Isaiah Canaan Impact Award, named after the MSU Hall of Famer who was also invited to the CP3 camp in 2012. Morant was an All-OVC First Team and All-OVC Newcomer Team selection as a freshman when he was 14th in the nation in assists per game at 6.2 and second among all freshmen nationally. His 201 assists was 16th nationally and was just the third season in MSU history of 200-plus. His 6.2 assists per game marked the best at MSU since Chad Townsend averaged 7.1 in 1996-97. Morant also joined Marshall's Jon Elmore as one of only two players in NCAA D-I with 400 points, 200 rebounds, and 200 assists. Morant also had MSU's second triple-double in records that date back to 1984 when he had 11 points, 10 rebounds and 14 assists at home vs EIU.
